The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is money provided in addition to main school funding, is the best way to address current inequalities amongst children, by supporting the more disadvantaged pupils to ensure that they benefit from and have access to the same opportunities as all other children.
The Pupil Premium is government money designed to help students who are currently registered for Free School Meals, or who have been registered for Free School Meals within the last 6 years, to do well at school. The children of Armed Forces families, and young people who are In Care are also eligible for Pupil Premium funding.
To benefit from Pupil Premium you need to be in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Income support or Income based job seekers allowance
- Child tax credit (but without any working tax credit)
- Household income of less than £16,190
If you are not sure whether your child is eligible for Free School Meals or would like more information about how you should go about claiming an entitlement, please contact the school office.
